Cheers to National Siamese Cat Day! For those uninformed, April 6th is National Siamese Cat Day. A few weeks ago, I gave a quick review of Bengal cats; hence, now seems to be a perfect time to explore another cat breed.
I will begin by acknowledging my own slant in writing this blog: Zoloft, my own darling kitty, or the love of my life, happens to be a Siamese mix. That makes me rather partial to these cats. Those of you who have had the privilege of cohabiting with a Siamese cat will undoubtedly feel the same; these are truly unique animals.
All About The Amazing Siamese Cat
Of course, they are truly amazing cats, even without Zoloft being part Siamese. Though they have eccentricities, they are great friends for the proper human. Let’s investigate the reasons for Siamese cat uniqueness.
Thai origins abound for these cats. Royalty and legends abound of them being even utilized as king guards; they were a very sought-after pet. Though their exact birth date is unknown, their roots date at least to the 18th century. Lucy Hayes, who you would know as the wife of Rutherford B. Hayes, is credited as popularizing Siamese cats upon acceptance of one as a gift in the United States. Following this, the popularity of these unique cats slowly grew until they were rather more prevalent than they are now.
The actual look of a real Siamese cat is debatable. Specifically, some people would not regard any of the mixed-breed cat breeds and would group them under the Siamese category. Having said that, depending on who is overseeing the show, colorpoint cats would not be able to be displayed within the Siamese category if you were trying to present a cat.
Since they are finally descended from purebred Siamese cats and have many of the same traits, I am personally not very discriminating about breeds and will group them under the Siamese category. Having said that, depending on who is overseeing the show, colorpoint cats would not be able to be displayed within the Siamese category if you are trying to present a cat.
Siamese cats have a really striking visual appeal. Although there are four usually accepted coat types, all Siamese cats have light-colored bodies with dark “tips” on their tails, paws, noses, and/or ears. Their coats are short, and they often have average-sized bodies relative to other kinds of cats. Best of all, they’re not known for shedding a lot, so their grooming needs are usually really simple.
Siamese cats have four distinct color patterns: blue point, seal, chocolate, and lilac. Though seal points have brown noses and toe beans while chocolate points have pink noses and toe beans, both seal and chocolate point cats have darker brown point patterns in their fur. The name reflects the lighter-colored fur with grayish-blue point traits of blue points. Though their fur is whiter and their looks are more subdued, their lilac points are similar.
Apart from the four designated Siamese designs, colorpoint patterns exist. Though it’s debatable whether or not they are authentic Siamese cats, let’s quickly discuss their appearance since they still possess a lot of breed traits.
Though they were mixed with cats with a tabby pattern, colorpoints have more distinct marks and have the same overall pointed coat pattern. While lynx point Siamese cats like Zoloft have more of a tabby pattern, some may have more solid coloration, such as the flame point Siamese cat (also known as a red point). Zoloft exhibits the unique M you find in tabby hair patterns.
see from theAs you can see from the hybrid patterns between the pointed Siamese coat and torties, coat patterns are even more complex. There are many conceivable coat patterns for which colorpoints would show!
bestTo be very honest here: from a totally objective perspective, Zoloft’s coat pattern is the greatest.
However, one cannot overlook the other unique quality of the Siamese: their exquisite blue eyes. Looking into their baby blues can easily lead one to become lost (however, I advise against it since gazing can be interpreted as a sign of aggressiveness by cats). These wonderful eyes will be found in both colorpoint and purebred Siamese cats.
That stated, a cat’s blue eyes do not indicate they are Siamese. For instance, birmans are a different breed derived from Burma instead of Thailand. Though they look similar, they usually have shorter hair, less pointed traits, and rounded ears than a Siamese cat would.
cats Although physical traits could point you in the direction of a Siamese cat, where Siameses are quite unique is their disposition. They really are different cats. Which phrase best fits this? You never return once you go Siamese. I don’t think that’s entirely right for some reason, but a Siamese will be a unique friend you won’t find with another breed.
same-sex Sociability is well-known about samisen cats. They prefer to bond really tightly with their person (or persons) and love humans. People who want a best buddy will find these kitties ideal. Whether you like it or not, snuggle bugs will usually curl up with you if you are looking for one! If you are not giving your Siamese cat enough attention, you should expect them to demand it.
times he will Siamese cats are sometimes rather Velcro cats in actuality. One known to follow me into the shower is Zoloft. He will settle between the liner and the shower curtain. He will sometimes scream at me, and other times I will hang out until I can start honouring him again. In either case, get ready since they will want to be with you always.
Said otherwise, a Siamese cat might only form close bonds with people they know. Though colorpoints are often fairly pleasant because of the personality traits they get from their non-Siamese half, they may not be very friendly toward strangers.
Their inclination to chat and chat and chat is one of the ways their friendliness shows up. Siamese cats are talkers, like storms. Occasionally, it’s only to remind you they’re there; occasionally, it’s to let you know they need something. These are not a good fit if you are seeking a quiet cat.
They also have a somewhat different meow. It is frequently compared to a sobbing infant or called a low, depressed meow. They can also be rather tenacious in their meowing; hence, be ready to provide them with what they need, or else you could have a cat that keeps pestering you. Thankfully, in many cases, all that they want is to be around you. Many Siamese cats love attention so much that they are trained to pay attention.
Siamese cats are not, of course, merely ornamental pets. Since they are often high-energy cats, a different breed is a better option if you like a low-involvement cat. Should you fail to provide them with sufficient cerebral stimulation, you could find yourself with behavioural issues.
The Siamese is a great option for someone searching for a cat that can be trained, will play with you, or may love walks. Spend daily ensuring your cat has enough to keep them from choosing to be creative with their hobbies. A puzzle feeder is a fantastic choice if you want something to keep their attention. They might also enjoy a toy like the Cat Dancer Deluxe, which can be hung on the wall so they can play even during busy times.
Siamese cats really are wonderful friends. Still, they have a lot of unusual demands. Ignoring their play or stimulation demands is probably going to cause behaviour issues. You should be ready to provide them with lots of attention and spend a lot of time training them. You will also be ready should they speak your ear off.
altered. You will get a devoted friend in exchange who will actually want to be with you. Your life will be permanently altered, and you will have a friendship unlike anything else you have known. Zoloft transformed my life; I am always appreciative that I could spend time with a Siamese cat. Your life will be far better and full of joyful memories of your unique cat if you are ready for their eccentricities.
