National Siamese Cat Day: All About The Amazing Siamese Cat

Cheers to National Siamese Cat Day! For those uninformed, April 6th is National Siamese Cat Day. A few weeks ago, I gave a quick review of Bengal cats; hence, now seems to be a perfect time to explore another cat breed.

I will begin by acknowledging my own slant in writing this blog: Zoloft, my own darling kitty, or the love of my life, happens to be a Siamese mix. That makes me rather partial to these cats. Though they were mixed with cats with a tabby pattern, colorpoints have more distinct marks and have the same overall pointed coat pattern. While lynx point Siamese cats like Zoloft have more of a tabby pattern, some may have more solid coloration, such as the flame point Siamese cat (also known as a red point). These wonderful eyes will be found in both colorpoint and purebred Siamese cats.

That stated, a cat’s blue eyes do not indicate they are Siamese. For instance, birmans are a different breed derived from Burma instead of Thailand. Though they look similar, they usually have shorter hair, less pointed traits, and rounded ears than a Siamese cat would.

Personality Traits
